At UCA we have a duty to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our students. A vital part of the work we do includes helping our students to develop an appreciation of and a respect for their own and others’ beliefs, culture and identity. When students feel secure about their own beliefs, culture and identity they are less likely to feel threatened by difference and less likely to mistrust, fear or hate others. Skills of empathy and understanding are crucial to lifelong learning and the holistic development of our students.

On June 18, 1815, Napoleon led his 72,000-strong army into battle with 120,000 mostly British and Prussian soldiers on the fields near the Belgian village of Waterloo, about 9 miles (14 kilometres) south of Brussels. The battle ended 23 years of recurrent warfare between France and the other powers of Europe.

The first policemen, known as 'Peelers' or 'Bobbies', were set up in London in 1829 by Robert Peel, the then Home Secretary, after 'The Metropolitan Police Act' on 19 June 1829. 

On 20 June 1214, the University of Oxford was granted a charter of liberties by Nicholas de Romanis, the papal legate, which authorised the appointment of a chancellor of the University. The University of Oxford is the oldest university in the English-speaking world and has been in existence for around nine centuries.

The longest day of the year (also known as the Summer solstice) is on or near 21 June in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the day when the sun is at its most northern point and this is why it is "the longest day".

In the southern hemisphere, the longest day or Summer solstice is celebrated in December when the northern hemisphere celebrates the Winter solstice

The Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway (CCE&HR) platforms were opened on 22 June 1907, by David Lloyd George, President to the Board of Trade, and later Prime Minister.

The London Underground (the Tube) is the oldest metro system in the world, upon which nearly 1 billion journeys are made each year. If you want to travel fast around London, taking the tube will get you to your destination quicker than bus or taxi. Tube trains generally depart every 3 or 4 minutes, less frequently at weekends and late at night.
