Principal's Welcome

As a conscientious parent, one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make for your child is which Secondary School will be the best to develop their learning and showcase their talents as well as building on their strengths and success from Primary School.
I am delighted to introduce you to Unity City Academy (UCA), the most improved school in Middlesbrough! With a 98% 5A*-C pass rate, the best in the town, the Academy has a proven track record in ensuring students make strides in education and fulfil their optimum potential.
Academic achievement for everyone is at the heart of all that we do and we are delighted with our improvements during the past five academic years. In the most important measures of 5A*-C, including maths and English, our percentage pass rate has improved from 18% in 2008 to 48% in 2012; a 23% improvement on last year and 8% above government target. For the past four out of five years we have gained national recognition as one of the most improved schools and academies in the country.
Whatever your child’s skills and interests, the Academy has a great deal to offer; students are driven to achieve academic success, develop their creativity, excel on the sports field and encounter a plethora of new experiences in a safe and enjoyable environment encouraged by a team of dedicated and experienced professionals. Our recent success is built on the excellent partnerships the Academy has developed with parents, carers, local Primary Schools and the wider community, enabling our students to achieve examination success and the personal confidence to enter the world of further and higher education as they progress to life long careers. At UCA we believe that “Every Child Matters”. Ofsted recognised the Academy as “a place where students have good personalised care, support and opportunity.”
It is clear in this ever changing world of education and employment demands that the need for personalised educational pathways must remain at the forefront of our planning for our student’s future success. We are confident that from September 2012, with the support of our new sponsors, The Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), we will go from strength to strength enabling all our students to be “The bestthey can” and thus embody the Academy vision of accepting our duty to inspire young people to make achieve as we fully believe that “The future belongs to those who are educated for it.”
Throughout future academic years we fully intend to extend our working practices with our local Primary and Secondary schools and will work more collaboratively with Eston Park and Gillbrook who are within our local family of AET Academies.
If you would like to know more, or would like a tour of the Academy during the working day, please do not hesitate to contact us. All at Unity City Academy look forward to working with you and your child toward future success.
